Welcome to Embrace, Empower!
Thank you so much for visiting this site!
Whatever stage of recovery you are in and whatever you are recovering from; you are not alone.
Embrace, Empower? What’s in a name?
This website focuses on personal recovery (in every sense of the word) through educating, embracing, and empowering ourselves and each other. Education is a critical part in the recovery process. It helps people understand their current or past situation and the effects that their afflictions currently have on themselves and others internally and externally. More importantly, it leads to awareness.
Recovery helps us discover who we truly are, and everyone has a recovery story.
We can learn to embrace ourselves and let go of our inner negativity to truly allow ourselves to shine. When we embrace our life and who we are, we can begin to truly empower who we are because we are writing our own narrative – and it’s a good one! When we can learn to embrace ourselves with all of our imperfections and struggles; then we can appreciate, accept, and embrace the beauty in others.
Through embracing our lives, ourselves, and those around us; we can truly empower ourselves and others.
The goal of this site is to stimulate growth, to provide support, to encourage health, and to motivate, promote and explore new ideas. I hope these articles will help you to learn what an amazing person you already are; to find your place and purpose in this world; and to find fulfillment in your life.
Hi! My name is Marisol; I am the owner and founder of Embrace, Empower. My name means “Ocean and sun” in Spanish. I am an actress, model, speaker, writer, blogger, and fitness instructor. I wear a lot of hats because if I don’t, I get bored easily.
I went from being a young, confident little girl to a world of isolation and self-destruction as a result of multiple traumas. I have been abused in every way possible (which is clearly not an accomplishment or something to aspire to) and had almost no coping mechanisms for it (at least none that were even remotely healthy), but I have learned that I am a survivor and not a victim. It took me over a decade to learn this lesson, but I have learned to empower myself as a result of my experiences and grow to be a healthier and stronger person. I have embarked on the lifelong journey of many recoveries, all of which I hope to share with you.
For a long time, I prolonged and postponed my recoveries (as many do). With each attempt, I was discouraged because it only led me to falling down again. However, I no longer live in that chronic downward spiral that I once believed to be my home.
I hope that in sharing my story, there will be some readers who will not have to hurt as I hurt, not have to prolong and postpone recovery the way I did. My hope is that my experiences and struggles can help some of you with similar struggles in your life.
I postponed starting this site for a long time because I thought I wasn’t recovered “enough” to share my story, thoughts, and reflections. And I was right! I needed more help and I got it, but I needed to start the site because recovery is an ongoing process. There is never going to be a day that I arrive and have nothing left to improve upon. That’s the beauty of life, there’s always room to grow. I was waiting to be enough, but I neglected to realize that I (along with every other beautiful and unique person on this Earth) am already innately, undoubtedly, unequivocally enough.
I am sharing my journey as it continues. I may have good days and bad days; but every day will teach me something, and I can share that something with you. In turn, you will be able to share your journey with me.
I am so thankful that you are visiting this site. I would love to hear from you. No matter whom you are, what your circumstances are, or where you are from; there is someone that can learn from you and/or are battling and struggling with the same things as you or have in the past. I encourage you to share your story and speak up as much as you feel comfortable. You can always comment on this site or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope that together we can (continue) to embrace and empower ourselves and avoid giving into societal expectations to lead more successful, happy, healthy, balanced, and authentic lifestyles.
I may just be getting started, but I look forward to what is to come of Embrace, Empower and I have a lot of plans for the site so stay tuned.
